    History Dexter’s Farm began as an individual selling tomatoes out of the back of a pickup during the 1983 tomato harvest season. Business continued to blossom (no pun intended) and in the fall of 1983, a roadside stand was opened in Lilburn, GA.

    By the end of 1984, Dexter's Farm had opened a wholesale distribution facility in Lilburn and started delivering produce after a restaurant owner asked, "Would you mind delivering our produce?". In 1985 another retail location was opened in Pine Lake, Stone Mountain, GA.

    Over the next decade, growth was very strong in the wholesale and delivery business which included adding chain restaurants and schools to the customer base. In 1993 the retails stores were closed to focus on the wholesale and delivery aspect of the business.

    1998 found us running out of space at the Lilburn location so the complete operation was moved to a new location in Buford, GA. As Dexter's Farm reputation and business continued to grow, our delivery service area expanded to the Carolinas in 2001.

    2008 saw a change in the executive management while the core management team remained in place. The next few years saw significant work on advanced workflows, food safety and quality while continuing to grow. This growth included the expansion of our service area to Alabama and Tennessee in 2010 and winning the DOD contract for the state of Georgia in 2011.

    In January of 2013, Dexter’s Farm officially became employee owned. During 2013, we were awarded the Pinnacle Small Business Award by the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce and ACG's Fast 40 Award as one of the top 20 fastest growing companies in Georgia. These prestigious awards encapsulates the hard work and commitment from all of our associates to make Dexter's Farm one of the largest and the best produce distribution group in Georgia.
